Structure and functions:

The Department of Art and Social Sciences is one among three established departments of the Institute of Public Administration composed of directorate with two divisions namely the division of Social Science and the division of Public Administration. Through its effective operation, it serves as a critical link to support the IPA mission and vision.

Currently the department oversees the development and operation of nine (9) programs which are separately provided within the mentioned divisions. The department offers a wide range of academic programs in diverse fields of Arts and Social Sciences. They include programs in Development Planning (NTA 4-8); Secretarial Studies (NTA 4-6); Educational Leadership and management (NTA 4-6); records and achieve management (NTA 4 - 8); Human Resource Management (NTA 4-8); International Relations and Diplomacy (NTA 4-8); Local Government Administration (NTA 4-6); Public Administration and Customer Care (NTA 4-6); and Public Relations (NTA 4-6).

The programs offered by the department of Arts and Social Sciences are demand driven and this tends to attract many students who are interested in Arts and Social Sciences. The department has academic staff with specialization in different disciplines that are related to Arts and Social sciences. Once again the department of Arts and Social Sciences wishes to welcome all aspiring students who are interested in getting a value added higher education.
